We hope you've all had a great weekend and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine. Spring is most definitely here! We were so proud of the children last week. They all settled very quickly back into our class routines and any nervous tummies and worries were soon gone and our classroom was full of smiles and laughter : ) The children were so happy to be back together with their friends and they worked really hard with their work for our Eisteddfod tomorrow. Keep an eye out for some pictures on Twitter.

 

What's happening this week?

Dydd Llun / Monday 

St.David's Day. Please wear your Welsh costumes/tops or something red or greeen to school.

Dydd Iau / Thursday

World Book Day. We won't be dressing up this year, but we have lots of fun activities planned throughout the day to celebrate it.

 

Reading books/bags 

We understand that weekends can be very busy and there's not always time to practise your reading book, so we will be changing how we send home and return the books. On Friday, your child brought home 2 reading books. Please keep these books at home to practise for the week and return them the following Monday 8th March. They will then bring home 2 new books on the Friday.

We hope you've had a lovely break with your families and had some time to switch off (grown ups too!). We are so happy to be able to welcome you back school next week. We have missed you so much and can't wait to see you all again in the classroom back together with your friends.

We are looking forward to a busy half term full of fun and learning as we continue with our theme 'Love Where You Live'.  Spring is on its way and hopefully we'll see some more sunshine and cheery days : ) We will be using the outdoors as much as possible, so please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.

Reading bags/books 

If you have any reading bags or books at home, please can you bring them in on your first day back?

                         

         St.David's Day / Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus

We will be celebrating St.David's Day next Monday 1st March. Please can pupils wear something Welsh themed to school? We understand that it is difficult at the moment with restrictions in the shops. If you already have a traditional Welsh costume or rugby/football top to wear, that would be great, but if not, you could wear something red or green or maybe a daffofil or leek.

It has been such a long time since we have been in school. It's time to get ourselves (teachers included!) back into the school routine. Make sure you go to bed nice and early so you are well rested and your brains are ready for learning.

Cardiff City Festival

 

Cardiff City Festival

This week we will be taking part in Cardiff City FC Foundation’s Bluebirds from home festival. 

We will be competing against Cardiff City First team and Women’s first team players in physical activity challenges. These challenges will be introduced to you by a different Cardiff City player each day and you will also find a set of instructions in your class’ shared folder to help you with each challenge.  

The challenges will run from Monday to Thursday, with Friday being reserved for a fun filled day of physical activities. These have been designed as a lot of children will have been missing out on taking part in sports and physical activities during the current lockdown period. On Friday there are six rounds of activities with an option of two activities per round. These activities have been designed to require little or no equipment, but any equipment required should be items you can find around the house. 

There will be a link to a feedback questionnaire for parents to complete on Friday finding their thoughts on the festival resources and their children during the current lockdown restriction. All parents completing feedback questionnaires will be entered in to a draw to win a Cardiff City FC Kit for their child and a PE equipment bag for their school worth over £250! 

As part of the event, families are encouraged to post social media content throughout the week tagging your school, @CCFC_Foundation and using the hashtags #BluebirdsFromHome #AdarGleisionOAdre

Week 6 - Safer Internet Week

 

Bore da Y Graig, welcome to Week 6. This is our last week before half term. We are nearly there!! We have said it every week, but we are so very proud of you all! You have been absolutely amazing over the past 6 weeks, so please give yourselves a big pat on the back and a high five for your grown-ups who have been the best teachers and helped you with all of your home learning. Whilst we are not sure what the plan is after half term yet, we are really looking forward to having you all back in the classroom together with your friends very soon. Please make sure you have a well-deserved half term break and have lots of fun with your families : )

This week is Internet Safety Week. 

Safer Internet Day is an annual event which is going to be held on 9th February 2021. It’s a global celebration all about technology and how children and young people can use the internet responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively. Digital technology and the digital world are becoming a bigger part of our lives every day, and even more so now with the introduction of remote learning. Safer Internet Day is a great opportunity to focus on online safety and educating even our youngest learners on how to stay safe in the digital world. 

We are going to use Internet Safety as our focus this week, so lots of our activities will be based around this.

Mrs.Boat is looking forward to seeing you all later for the class calls and Mrs.Dollman will catch up with you on Thursday this week as we have an INSET day on Friday. 

The children in Group 1 really enjoyed sharing jokes in our call last week, so we have decided to share our favourite joke in our meetings on Thursday. You don't have to share a joke, but if you would like to, we would love to hear them : )

Class TEAMS Meeting Friday 5th February

Mrs.Dollman is really looking forward to seeing all of your lovely smiles again in the class meetings on Friday. Unfortunately there were some technical issues on Monday and Mrs.Boat sends her apologies. Just like you, us teachers are still learning lots about all of this new technology.

In our meeting on Friday, Mrs.Dollman would love to hear about something that has made you smile or laugh this week. You may want to show something or you can tell us about it. Have a little think what you would like to share. Please don't worry if you feel a little shy, you can just listen to your friends if you would rather.

Well I can't quite believe we are heading in to Week 5 of our Home Learning. We are so proud of you and you are doing a fantastic job, this includes all of your parents and grandparents too! Thank you for your continued support, especially with our first ever live session on Friday. 

Despite a few technical issues, the sessions were really successful and it was so lovely to see all of your smiley faces on the screen, it certainly made Mrs.Dollman smile for the rest of the day : )  I hope you enjoyed seeing some of your friends. Mrs.Boat is really looking forward to seeing you all  tomorrow where she will tell you more about our focus this week...
