We will be continuing our work on 2D shapes including square, triangle, rectangle, circle and semi-circle, and sorting them by their properties.

Our new learn-it this week is:  6 + 4 = 10

We have been learning to count in 10s and 5s up to 100. Please can you help your child to practise at home?

Knowledge and Understanding / Creative / PSE
Finish making our Stuart houses.
Explore and play a range of games from the past.
Perform 'London's burning' using a range of instruments.

Reading books
Please can you ensure reading bags and books are brought to school everyday. I have begun to attach reading skills ladders in the front of the reading diary. This will show the skill that we are working on in class, highlighted in yellow. Please help your child to work on this skill at home. When I am confident that your child has consolidated this skill, a new skill will be highlighted and recorded next to our guided reading class book in the diary.

Reading with your child is vital. It is the key to the world. I understand that everybody is busy, but it is essential that your child reads daily, even if it's just for 10 minutes and a comment is made in the reading diary. Please encourage your child to read a variety of material such as; school reading book, own story books at home, library books, newspapers, magazines and information on the internet.  It is also important that children hear their parents read to them.  This is a great opportunity for you to model the skill that your child is working on.  It is also a time to introduce new vocabulary to your child. The more they hear, the more they will use to improve their writing.

Visit to the Celtic Manor Christmas Kingdom
Please remember to return the permission slip and deposit by tomorrow (Monday 2nd October). For those pupils who were absent last week, I have letters ready for you. Please ask Mrs.Evans in the morning.

Thank you for your continued support
