A very
warm welcome to Class 3 / Y Graig. I hope you've all had a great Summer holiday
and are feeling refreshed and ready for the year ahead.
It was lovely meeting the class on move up day and Mrs.Evans and I are really looking
forward to getting to know and working together with your children(and you!)
this year.
The blog
will be my main form of keeping you up to date about our class, providing you
with information about what we are and have been learning and how you can help
to support your child's learning at home.
Every
Sunday, I will aim to update the class blog with information about what we will be
learning, our planned focus and enhanced tasks and also any other important information.
Our theme
for this term is 'Shadow Showdown'. All of our skills and activities will be
taught and developed under the umbrella of this theme. It is a science based theme, where we will be learning all about light, dark and shadows.
I will be
spending the week getting to know the children, working together with them to
decide upon class rules and their own personal targets and goals.
The
children will be taking ownership of their new classroom, by helping to decide
what we will need to aid our learning in each area and make and write signs and
labels for them.
As part
of the Foundation Phase, lots of our activities will be taken outdoors and in
the fantastic forestry area. Please can you ensure your child has a suitable
coat and a pair of wellies for them to keep in school for the year.
Pupils
will not need PE kit this week. Please can you send in a PE kit in a labelled bag (plain white
top, navy/black shorts or leggings) by Monday 10th September? They will be kept on our PE drawers and I will send them home every term for washing! Our
PE focus this term is gymnastics and dance so no footwear is needed. I will let you know our PE days as soon as we have the new hall timetable.
Please
can you ensure that all clothing/wellies are clearly labelled with your child's
name to avoid any confusion or misplaced items.
In Year 1, we encourage the children to become more independent and will now take responsibility for their own snack. It is important that they have a snack every morning, as it is a long time between breakfast and lunch. As a healthy school, pupils will need a healthy snack, this maybe fruit, crackers, cheese, raw vegetables etc. The children can also bring in a bottle of water to keep in the class for them to have throughout the day. They will also still have the opportunity to have a carton of milk at playtime if they wish.
I will
send out more information in the class newsletter by the end of the week regarding home-learning tasks,
reading books and PE days etc.
Myself or
Mrs.Evans will be on the door to welcome the children every morning. If you
have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to come and see me.
Alternatively, if you need to make an appointment, please do so with the
secretary in the office.
I look
forward to meeting you all. See you all bright and early on Tuesday!
