Wythnos 2

Hi there everyone!  We hope you are all safe and well.  Firstly, we would like to say well done to all those who have managed to join our Hwb Class page and who have uploaded some wonderful work and photos for us to see.  It is great for us to look at and what is even nicer, is seeing all your lovely smiles in your photos; it has really cheered us up!

From this week, we will be adding a comment to the Discussions Page when someone uploads any work or photos.  If you do not wish for us to comment on your child's work on this page, then please email either Mrs Rees or Mrs Farrell to inform us.

Additionally, we are starting a new reward system called J2Stars.  If you have a brother or sister in KS2 you may have already heard about it as they were trialling it as last week.  So this week, it is our turn!

You will be awarded stars for the following skills:
  • Joining In
  • Being Kind
  • Mega Maths
  • Getting Active
  • Being Creative
  • Teamwork
  • Super Spelling
  • Working Hard

Each of you will find your stars by clicking on the following icon in Just2Easy.

This will then take you to your stars page where you will find your own avatar and the stars you have been awarded.

Designing An Avatar
Your first task this week is to change your avatar, by following theses easy steps. Make it personal to you!

Click on the edit button highlighted below.

This then takes you to the page below where you can change the appearance of your avatar.  Get creative, there's a Being Creative Star waiting for you!
When you have finished you need to click on the save button highlighted below.

Get Active
If you enjoyed P.E. With Joe Wicks last week and wish to continue his exercise class at 9am each day, then that is wonderful. Please carry on; Mrs Rees is going to try her best to do it every day.  Last week she managed 4 out of the 5 days, but she made up for the fifth day on Sunday morning instead.

However, if you wish to do something different, then this week's Get Active Activity suggestion is Cosmic Kids Yoga. There are a wide range of yoga videos to choose from that vary in length and theme.  You can choose whichever session you wish to try. We would love to hear about the ones you enjoy, so start a discussion on Hwb Class and suggest your friends try the same and then comment about what they thought of it.  Eleri Bear loves a bit of yoga, so Mrs Rees will be looking for some suggestions to do with her.

Book Review

Choose your favourite book and write a review.  Tell me why you love it and why someone else should read it.  How many stars would you give the book out of 5?  Think about your favourite part and your favourite character, giving reasons for your choices.  Take a look at the videos below to help you complete yours. You will find the book review templates in the Files section on our Hwb Class Page, in the Wythnos 2 folder.

Stained Glass Window

We would like you to design and create a stained glass window.  You can create a design on the computer, draw it on paper, or if you have the resources at home, use tissue paper or sweet wrappers to make it.

Take a look at the photographs of some stained glass windows below for some inspiration.  We can not wait to see what wonderful creations you come up with.  These will be used to create a display on return to school.

Practical Activities

Creating a Block Graph
Using J2Data on Hwb, we would like you to create a block chart.

Firstly, you need to collect your data.  We would like to know what your favourite colours are.  Mrs Rees has started a discussion on Hwb Class where you can all reply with your favourite colour.  Use this data to complete your chart.

You will need to change your label 'Item' to 'Colour'.

Every chart needs a title too.  Click in the highlighted box below and write your title.  Start with 'Chart To Show...'

Once you have finished your chart, you need to save it by clicking on the highlighted button below.  This will be saved in your pupil folder and we can then comment on your work for you to see.  We may even award you some stars!

Llyfr Yr Wythnos
This week's Welsh book is called 'Dora'.  This is a book about a dragon called Dora who tells us all about herself.  We find out where she lives, what food she likes and what food her dad doesn't like.

You will find the sentence patterns linked to hoffi in this book.
Dw i'n hoffi… - I like...
Dw i ddim yn hoffi… - I do not like...
Dw i'n byw... - I live...

Geirfa
brecwast - breakfast
cinio - dinner
te - tea
swper - supper
pysgod - fish
moron - carrots
afalau - apples
dost - ill
Mae’r ddanno’dd arna i - I have toothache
sbwriel - rubbish

We have our fingers crossed the sun stays shining and you can continue to enjoy your gardens.  Remember to take photos of anything you do that is practical and upload to our Hwb Class Page, we would love to see what you have been doing at home.

Take care of yourselves and stay safe!

We miss you!
