Summer Wythnos 8

Our Body

This week are going to delve into the wonderful world of the human body; finding out just how amazing it is!

Task 1 - Body Parts
Take a look at yourself in the mirror and look at the different parts of your body that you can see from the outside.  For example, your arms and legs. Now think about what body part we use for each of the five senses. Can you now think about what each of these body parts do?  For example, we use our legs and feet to walk and run.

Activity
* Draw a person and label the body parts (see check list below.)
** Draw a person, label the body parts and the senses linked to these parts.
*** Draw a person, label the body parts, label the senses and explain what each body part does.

Task 2 - Moving Skeleton
This week's Llyfr Yr Wythnos is Funny Bones, written by Janet and Allan Ahlberg.

Now you have finished listening to the story, we would like you to create a moving skeleton, making sure you place all the bones in the correct places.  Maybe you could sing the song as you put the bones together.  You will find the skeleton worksheet in SUMMER WYTHNOS 8 file on our Hwb Class Page.

Task 3 - Wellbeing Task
This week Mrs Farrell is going to introduce our wellbeing task and we have chosen an activity that focuses on developing your fine motor skills, body awareness, hand/eye coordination and muscular strength.  A big thank you to Amelie, who is Mrs Farrell's trusty assistant; you have done a great job!

Task 4 - Problem Solving
For maths this week, we would like you to put your investigation hats on and answer the following two questions:

1. Are older children the tallest?
To answer this question we need to know how tall you are and the month and year of your birthday.  Mrs Rees will start a discussion on Class Hwb Page for you to tell us your height in cm and your birthday month and year.
* Create a table of your results.
** Create a graph of the height of everyone in Y Graig.
*** Put the children in order of age and then again by order of height. Do these two lists match?

2. Do the longest legs jump the furthest?
To answer this question you will need to measure the length of your inside leg in cm and then how far you can jump without a run up in cm.  Mrs Rees will start a separate discussion on Class Hwb Page for you to give everyone your measurements.

* Create a table of your results.
** Create a graph of how far everyone in Y Graig can jump.
*** Put the children in order of leg length and then again by order of how far they jump. Do these two lists match?

Task 5 - The Organs
Take a look at the videos below about our wonderful body.  Isn't it amazing!  Once you have watched the videos, take a look at the Colour The Organ sheet in SUMMER WYTHNOS 8 file on Hwb Class Page and see if you can find the different organs found inside our body.  Once you have completed the sheet, choose 2 of the organs and find out 2 facts about them.  You can record these facts how ever you wish.

Here's to another fun packed week of distance learning Y Graig. Don't forget, all we ask is that you try your best. Remember to upload your lovely work to your J2E files instead of Hwb Class files.  Look out for those stars we will be awarding you throughout the week. I will be sending out this week's certificates tomorrow afternoon, so keep an eye out in your email inbox.

Keep up the hard work Y Graig.  We are very proud of you.
Take care and stay safe
