We are well and truly in the Christmas spirit in Y Graig.  We had a wonderful dress rehearsal for our concert on Friday and an even better first performance today.  We are extremely proud of all the children and all the hard work their have put in to learn songs, dances and lines.  Well done Y Graig, you truly are Christmas super stars!  We have lots of festive fun planned for the next two weeks, with a little work mixed in.

Can I first start by thanking those who have already donated to our Homeless Advent, you have been very generous.  We are still looking for more donations so that we can put together a lovely hamper for those less fortunate than us at such a special time of year.  Christmas is after all the season of giving.  If you are in a position to help, please send in your items this week.

We were lucky to have Miss Jordan join us in Y Graig today.  She is a student teacher from UWE, Bristol and will be with us until February.  There will be days when Miss Jordan will deliver lessons to the children and be responsible for focused activities, with Mrs Farrell and Mrs Rees observing and supporting.  The children made her feel very welcome and are looking forward to working with her over the next eight weeks.

I am sure the children have told you all about our lovely visitor, Elfie, the hard working Elf.  He has been with us a week now and has set the children some excellent challenges.  So far they have designed a new sleigh for Santa, collaged Christmas trees for presents on Christmas Eve and written Christmas cards to their friends in class.  My favourite challenge was their homework and we have to say Y Graig, you have blown us away.  Da iawn!  The standard of work is excellent and Mrs Rees has loved putting them on display this afternoon when you all went home after the concert.  They are looking great!

We are focusing on our work on Vlogging this week, where the children are learing the story of Christmas and then retelling it through a video message.  We will be planning this week and recording next week.  This activity will be used as this tern's oracy assessment where we will be looking at the children's ability to speak clearly, with fluency, appropriate volume and intonation.

What is Vlogging?

There will be no more paper books sent home before Christmas now so no need to send in the children's book bags until January.  We would like you to keep reading the books on the Challenge lists (don't forget to record in reading diaries and let us know in class so we can tick the books off the list) and also read e-books until the new year.

Here's to a fun-packed week full of Christmas cheer.
