We are going to be delving into the wonderful world of vlogging over the next few weeks.  The children will be learning how to vlog and will then create their own based on the Christmas story.  Before we start, we will be learning the story of Christmas and the meaning behind it.

Mathemateg / Maths
We have been trying hard to complete our daily calendar since the beginning of term and we all help one another remember the days of the week and the month of the year, along with the season we are in.  Every week, we have a Calendar Helping Hand who is in charge of changing the date.  Some weeks we find it hard to remember, so we have decided to spend this week learning the order of the months of the year and the season each month belongs to.

Cymraeg / Welsh
We are going to link our Welsh with our maths and look at the months of the year and seasons in Welsh.  We will be creating a special seasons calendar that the children will be able to bring home at the end of term.  Take a look at the videos below to see some of the language linked to the seasons in Welsh.

Every week the children are given a range of challenges to complete during their Shine Time in class and these challenges are put into different areas of the classroom.  Some weeks there maybe a maths challenge alongside a creative and other weeks you may find the children have a challenge in the ICT area or construction.  Before the challenges are set we ask the children their ideas and we work with these ideas to create activities.  The children then carry out these activities independently throughout the week to earn a peg per challenge - there are four per week to gain.

Last week Mrs Farrell asked the class for their ideas linked to Christmas which Mrs Rees will then choose from and create challenges from for this week.  We have been blown away by the ideas the pupils have come up with and are looking forward to working our way through them all over the last three weeks of this term.  However, one idea stood out amongst the rest.  It did so, not because it was more creative, but because the idea showed empathy and sympathy.  One of the children has asked that we do something for the homeless as they have nothing at Christmas.

We have decided that Y Graig are going to create a reverse advent.  This means, we will create a gift package of food/toiletry items and create an Advent basket which will be donated to charity.  We would be very grateful if you could donate a food item to our advent over the next few weeks.  Items we are asking for are include:

Any donation will be gratefully received.  We are both very proud of this suggestion and are looking forward to seeing what we can put together.

Here's to a lovely week Y Graig.  Lots of fun things ahead but still some work to do too.  Stay focused and we are sure there will be plenty of tine for Christmas fun too!
