Saesneg
Have you ever wondered what life is like on a pirate ship? Well this week you will have the chance to find out! This week we will be investigating the different jobs onboard a pirate ship and the skills you would need to do them. We will then be applying and interviewing each other for jobs on Barte Ddu’s pirate ship! How can you explain to others that you would make a good pirate? Good luck me landlubbers! Get your pirate thinking caps on!
Mathemateg
In maths this week, we will be using balance scales and non-standard units to weigh, order and compare.
We will be working outside to compare the weight of natural materials and we will also be helping Barte Ddu to stock his galley for his next trip. He can’t take too much food though, we don’t want the boat to sink! We will be using balance scales to help him solve his shopping problems!
Gwyddoniaeth
This week we will be investigating to help us with our boat making challenge coming up in a few weeks. We will be testing to find out the answers to ‘What makes the best base of a boat?’ by finding out how many pennies different containers will hold before they sink and ‘What does the best sail look like?’ by blowing boats with different shaped sails to see which one goes the furthest. It’s certainly going to be a fun week!
Eat a Rainbow Challenge
The eco-committee are so amazed by everyone who has taken us up on our challenge. This week we have been out and about on the yard and there are so many colourful snacks and reusable containers, diolch! When you complete your card, please hand it to your eco committee member or teacher and you will receive your certificate by the end of the week.
The eco-committee are so impressed, they want to extend the challenge. Every completed card will go into a box in the hall. At the end of this half term one card will be pulled out and they will win a prize! Therefore, you can repeat the challenge over the coming weeks, fill in more cards and increase your chance of your name being pulled out! If you would like any extra cards to repeat the challenge, please see Mrs Farrell at the end of the week.
Outdoor Equipment
At the end of each day we put our bikes and scooters on to the veranda of the playhouse. Please can you ensure that the children (and any siblings) do not play on them before or after school. Diolch.
Wow! We have a very busy week ahead of us.
We are looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow, ready to learn.
